Subacute Unit

SUBACUTE UNIT

The 28-bed subacute unit at Vibra Hospital of Western Massachusetts includes a specialized neurorehabilitation program, which provides services to individuals with acquired brain injuries, neuropsychiatric disorders and other neurological/behavioral disorders.

Our program also includes:

  • development of skills for community re-entry
  • vocational and pre-vocational opportunities
  • recreational programs and volunteer opportunities

Upon admission to the program, an interdisciplinary team carefully creates an individualized care plan for each patient. Input is gathered from patients and their families as goals are created and the focus is on helping the patient return to the highest level of function.

Within each patient’s care plan, objectives will be developed to accommodate his or her individual strengths and challenges. These address the status of communication, physical, medical, behavioral, social and other skills. Priority is given to the skills needed in the projected discharge setting and positive reinforcement is used as patients accomplish their goals.
